Teachers Responsibility
Teachers are required to complete the Teacher STaR Chart beginning with 2006-2007. Teachers will be able to login to complete the STaR Chart at www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart using their star chart username and password.

If returning teachers do not recall their password for STaR Chart, teachers can go to the log on screen at www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart click the Login link, enter teacher email address at the Forgot a password? option. The password will be sent to that teacher via email. The teacher can then login and view their past STaR Chart or create a new one. It is highly recommended that teachers create a file to retain their STaR Chart username and password for next year.

Update Contact Information
After logging in to STaR Chart, teachers can update their STaR Chart profile by going to Update Contact Info. Correct grade level, subject area, email address and password can and should be updated.

            My Page

• All twenty-four Focus Area titles are listed on My Page under the appropriate Key Area.
• Select “Begin” to access the star chart and submit the assessment. If the assessment is not completed at one time, the teacher can then click the button to “Continue” and all previous selections will have been retained.
• Notice there is now one Focus Area per page. Teachers should read the four levels of proficiency and select the level that best indicates the teacher’s situation. “More” descriptors can be viewed for Teaching and Learning and Educator Preparation Key Areas.
• The left menu bar will track Teacher progress.
• Once the last Focus Area level is selected, the teacher may select “Finish” to return to My Page.
• Teachers may opt to print out their Teacher STaR Chart scores for the current year. If so, the list may be printed from the My Page option. Or Teachers may choose the “Printer Friendly” option on My Page.

Update STaR Chart
After submitting the Texas Teacher STaR Chart, teachers have the ability to return later in the year and resubmit the STaR Chart at will. The last STaR Chart submitted for a particular school year will be the score retained for used for that account.

New Teachers Role
Teachers are required to complete the Teacher STaR Chart beginning with 2006-2007. If teachers are new to the campus or have not previously activated their STaR Chart account, principals will see no email address listed for those teachers in STaR Chart when logged in with the Campus STaR Chart account.

• To activate teacher accounts, teachers will log on at www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart with their STaR Chart username (provided by the campus administrator) and the password “password”.
• Teachers will create their profile including password, email address, grade level and subject area. (Verifications will not be sent to aol, yahoo, sbcglobal or other vendor related email addresses. Teachers should use their district account.)
• If the verification email is not sent to the teacher email instantaneously, double check the email address entered and try again. If for any reason, teachers do not receive the verification email after assuring the teacher email is correct, contact the STaR Chart Helpdesk for assistance. (starchart@esc12.net)  Provide the teacher STaR Chart username, email address you attempted to use, campus and district name.

After submitting their profile, teachers will receive an instantaneous verification email message, and will then have the ability to click the link in the verification to enter STaR Chart to complete the assessment. If the verification does not arrive in teacher email, resubmit the profile using the complete correct teacher email address.

It is highly recommended that teachers create a file to retain their STaR Chart username and password for next year.
